School Objectives

The EDBT (" Extending Data Base Technology ") school is now a major and well-established event. This is is the fifth of a series of EDBT Summer School, a European bi-yearly summer school in databases. This is also the second in a series of summer schools organized by the French database community. Lectures will be given by leading researchers of the international database and information-systems community.

The school is directed to members of the database research community (in the wide sense): primarily graduate students, Ph. D. students, and young researches, but also professionals involved in R&D or in the use of advanced database technologies.

The main objective of this school is to present the new problems that advanced database management systems have to face in order to answer the demands of new applications.
