Efficient Construction of Indices for Text Databases Edleno Moura and Nivio Ziviani Return to Information Retrieval, Digital Libraries and Indexing Abstract Database management systems include nowadays functions to deal with textual databases. The textual information is these systems is accessed by using special index structures, where the most applied is the inverted index. We present here a method that reduces the time to generate inverted indices by using compression techniques.
