Return to Location-Aware Services We model a moving object as a sizable physical entity equipped with GPS, wireless communication capability, and a computer. Based on a grid model, we develop a distributed system, FATES, to manage data for moving objects in a two-dimensional space. The system is used to provide time-dependent shortest paths for moving objects. The performance study shows that FATES yields shorter average trip time when there is a more congested route than any other routes in the domain space. @inproceedings {DBLP:conf/mdm/ChonAA03, author = {Hae Don Chon and Divyakant Agrawal and Amr El Abbadi}, booktitle = {Mobile Data Management}, title = {FATES: Finding A Time dEpendent Shortest path.}, pages = {165-180}, year = {2003}, url = {db/conf/mdm/mdm2003.html#ChonAA03}, ee = {http://link.springer.de/link/service/series/0558/bibs/2574/25740165.htm}, crossref = {conf/mdm/2003}, bibsource = {DBLP, http://dblp.uni-trier.de} } ![]() ©2005 Association for Computing Machinery |
