 ACM SIGMOD Undergraduate Scholarship Program

The ACM Special Interest Group on Management of Data (SIGMOD) wants undergraduate students who have an interest in database systems to experience the cutting edge research presented at the ACM SIGMOD/PODS Joint Conference (International Conference on Management of Data and Symposium on Principles of Database Systems).

The ACM SIGMOD/PODS 2000 Joint Conference (aims at fostering close collaboration between the theoretical and applied database communities. The three-day conferences will  both be held at the Adams  Mark Hotel in the heart of downtown Dallas from May 14-18,2000, and will  overlap for two days. Attendees register for the joint conference, are encouraged  to attend sessions in both conferences, are invited to join social events, and receive both proceedings.

In order to encourage undergraduate students to attend the conference, a scholarship program is being introduced this year. Each scholarship provides up to $1000 to defray conference attendance costs plus free
registration. Selected students will be recognized at the ACM SIGMOD 2000 awards luncheon. All undergraduate students who have completed or will be enrolled in a database class by March 15, 2000 are eligible for the scholarship.  All application materials must be received by January 15, 2000, and notification of awards will be completed by March 15, 2000.
