Warehousing and OLAP

CIKM 2001: Tenth International Conference on Information
and Knowledge Management
Sponsored by ACM SIGIR and SIGMIS  
Data
warehousing allows the consolidation and storage of data
in information systems that provide executives and
managers with timely access to critical information for
strategic and tactical decision making.
Research activities and technologies of data
warehousing and OLAP are rapidly growing. However, many
issues need to be fully explored and well understood to
reach a reasonable maturity and efficiency of such
technologies.
Aim of the Workshop
Like
the previous successful DOLAP workshops held in
conjunction with CIKM, the fourth edition of the
Workshop on Data Warehousing and OLAP (DOLAP 2001) aims to
reduce the gap between the research community and
industry practitioners by
providing an international forum where both researchers
and practitioners can share their findings in
theoretical foundations, current methodologies, practical
experiences, and new research directions in the areas of
data warehousing and OLAP.
Submission of Papers
The
workshop solicits two types of papers: regular
and industry
papers. Regular papers shall address research topics in
the following areas, but not limited to:

Data warehousing foundations

Data modeling for data warehousing
·
Data warehouse design
·
Metadata management
·
Physical organization of data warehouses
·
View materialization
·
·
Online analytical processing
·
Conceptual
and logical modeling of multi-dimensional data
·
Multidimensional queries: evaluation and
optimization
·
Performance optimization and tuning
·
Data warehousing and the Web
·
Data warehousing applications
Industry
papers shall address:
·
Data warehousing projects and applications
·
Administration tools: loading, cleaning
and transformation
·
Data Quality
·
Maintenance of data warehouses
·
Benchmarks
·
Experience and lessons
·
Software for data warehousing and OLAP
·
Surveys
Submitted papers should be
approximately 15 double-spaced pages. Electronic
submission is highly encouraged (Postscript, PDF, MS
Word, RTF). Full
papers should be sent to
dolap2001@cise.ufl.edu
by
July 9, 2001. Alternatively, four (4) hard copies can be
sent to Joachim Hammer at the address below.
In
addition to the full paper, authors must also submit an
abstract not to exceed 150 words in ASCII format to the
e-mail above, on or before June 29, 2001. The abstract
should also contain the title, several descriptive
keywords, as well as the names of all authors.
Papers
will be reviewed by the program committee for their
technical merit, originality, significance, readability,
and relevance to the workshop. Authors will receive
notification of acceptance/rejection by August 27.
Camera-ready copies of accepted papers are due on
September 15, 2001, and will be published in the
workshop proceedings by ACM Press.
It
is planned that selected accepted papers will be
considered for journal publication in a joint special
issue with the best papers of DMDW 2001.
